Is there? Where can I find the most authentic, almost as good as they make in New York, pizza in SF? Prefrably in a shop that's got no hostess, just booths... maybe an old dusty and disused video game sitting in the back, a guy working the register who looks annoyed to be helping you, and TV that's just showing italian soccer.
Ya know... the real deal. Does it exist?

Otherwise, the most recent one I went to is Arinell Pizza - 509 Valencia St bet 16st & 17th. I was impressed how remotely it tasted like a nyc slice. Good stuff. -

a little too think for me, but if that's what ya like, check out arinells. also giorgio's on clement is new york-like. both are pretty damn good pies.... -

Mon, August 1, 2005 - 3:45 PMI'm gonna give mine to Pizza Orgasmica as well. I finally tried one last night. great flavor and crust. and it held up well for a delivery.
If I were to gripe, I'd say get the ingredients out to the edge. a 1-inch border of pure crust is just too much. -

Thu, August 11, 2005 - 7:26 AMHad one of the best pizzas of my life at Tomasso's this week. Asked the cook to make it a little crispy and believe me, it was perfection.
Have to go on the record to say....I've never really had a pizza in New York that blew my mind. Dont believe the hype.
