Re: Pizza My Heart on Chestnut Street?
Mon, December 13, 2004 - 3:41 PMI sure hope its true, cause I'm getting real sick of the Cybelle's that's there now. They are slow and the pizza isn't that great! And I'm on Chestnut almost everyday for lunch!

Re: Pizza My Heart on Chestnut Street?
Thu, February 24, 2005 - 9:32 PMYou know, I think I had a slice for lunch there years and years ago (at least 5 or 6), and thought it was fine. But I don't know about now. If you do eat there, Angela, let us know what you think! -

Re: Pizza My Heart on Chestnut Street?
Sat, March 12, 2005 - 7:42 PMI sit here and review all of these e-mails for pizza in La and San Francisco and New York and the rest of these big cities. What about some of these little one horse towns and burgs. Some of these little towns throw out some real good pies.
Like:
Osso's in Washington Penna
De Carlo"s in Elm Grove W.Virginia and
Mazzies in Washington Penna
All great pizzaries and thousands more like them all over the country. Can't ignore them because they are all in business and make great pizza.
Think about it.
Sorry Anita I am not trying to ignore your question, but I just wanted to get the point across before I forgot about it. -

Re: Pizza My Heart on Chestnut Street?
Sun, March 13, 2005 - 6:19 AMSure, Larry, it's an excellent point, and lest we should get too San Francisco-centric, I should note that my vote would have to go to the House of Pizza in South Paris, ME (should they still be in existence after all these years). But since this is the "Pizza San Francisco" tribe, I doubt most folks on this list have ever heard of South Paris, ME or will be stopping in at the House of Pizza on their lunch hours! -

Re: Pizza My Heart on Chestnut Street?
Tue, March 15, 2005 - 1:33 AMOnce, back in 2000, I was schlepping my stuff from Oakridge TN to Selinsgrove PA but, due to bad weather had to spend the night in Winchester VA. When I pulled off the highway I was greeted by a dismal burnt out shopping mall with lots of spent motor oil on the parking lot and a cinder-block ediface. I was exhausted and quite hungry but a little scared of the food offerings there. I settled on a little pizzaria, replete with fake brick and Dean Martin singing "That's Amore". When I walked in, the place had only two other people in it. I ordered a medium cheese pie, and it took about 35 minutes to get to the table. I wasn't expecting anything more than a good stuffing, but to my sweet surprise I was treated to one of the best pies of my life. The first thing that blew me away was the sauce. It was the tomatoes as well as the seasoning and cooking that made it sing like the angel Israfel. The cheese was nothing short of the best of the best mozzarella I've ever had. The crust was moderately thin, perhaps a sour-dough, and, if I remember correctly, had cornmeal underneath. The crust alone would have made memorable eating. I ate the whole pie in a state of ecstasy, smiling like a lunatic. The place, who's name I have long since forgotten, was an Italian mom and pop set-up that grew the Roma tomatoes at their home. Not long after I arrived, the place was packed. I thanked them so much that I think they were getting a little tired of me. Two hours later, in my motel room, my taste buds were still ringing with the flavors. I topped it off with some Ben and Jerry's. If heaven exists, it sure finds some unassuming places to settle into. -

Re: Pizza My Heart on Chestnut Street?
Mon, March 21, 2005 - 3:52 PMWent to Pizza my Heart today for lunch. Nice place, good prices. Much better than Cybelle's right down the street. Good service too. Thin crust pizza, a lot of grease. I had a slice of cheese and a slice of pepperoni. The crust is thin and crispy. I recommend it.
